The bamboo is a grass.

Bamboos are a sub-family of graminae. We have discovered quite recently that the bamboo is not a primitive grass but instead a rather evolved vegetable group. (Classification)

The term covers all graminae with branches and timber poles. It can be called 'wood'..

Two extremes of rhizome architecture are represented in pictures above. The Bamboo Cespitose spreads little bunch and form dense clumps. the Running Bamboo extends along a direction, given to the whole rhizome network (usually in the direction of the light). In nature appear a mixture of these behaviors depending on the species and sometime on the environment. (See Rhizome Architecture).
